Never say no to a free mirror. My business partner Sam’s mom was throwing this out, so glad he saved it for me
The boy and other things
Today Andrew is back in the UK after 7 weeks of being a full time rockstar. He’ll be here around lunchtime and I still need to hoover the flat and make sure it’s looking awesome for his arrival. Toad in the hole for dinner I reckon. I’m kind of nervous- I have never lived with a boyfriend, for the last year and a half the most time I have spent with him is two weeks! But I’m sure it’ll all be okay.
On Friday night I met my neighbours who were very lovely- they have a huge penthouse flat with a massive balcony stretching around a corner of the building- it put our teeny balcony which is just big enough for a table and chairs to shame. They really loved living there, which is a good sign I guess! Their only advice was about how when the huge events at The Custard Factory are going on that you literally need earplugs to sleep and that the windows shake. Supersonic festival is coming up in October- but I think I’ll be working the entire weekend if all goes well, so fingerscrossed I’ll he there rather than hearing it from home.
What else? Nothing I guess. Time to get up and get on with the day!
ISSUE ONE IS HERE!
We know we have taken ages, but we’ve finally got everything together, and as of today you can purchase our little zine for the princely sum of £2. A 16 page bargain with a screen printed cover designed by the lovely Alex Curtis, featuring interviews with the lady herself, Ammo Magazine, Southsea DIY and Sauna Youth.
The zine can be purchased from the following places:
McCoys Arcade
Fore Street
Exeter
EX4 3ANWe’re also looking for people to stock the zine in shops and distros, so if you’re interested, get in touch!
All my plants together at last! I can’t wait for the tomato, pepper and chilli plants to get bigger. I also need to sort out some sort of shelf so I can see them from inside the flat better
The saddle is on (thanks to James Taylor) and the horrible spongey stuff on the handlebars has been ripped off (and crumbled all over my floor). I think I need to get some of that light blue somewhere else on the bike so it doesn’t look so odd. I’m dead set on brown bar tape still, any ideas where else I could get some in?
Hello nice new Charge saddle specifically made for ladies. Hopefully this will mean the end of a bruised rear end from now on!
Games night in my flat. This game was sold to me on the promise “it’s like buckaroo but with pizza toppings”. Yess! The mushrooms are the hardest and we definitely needed shots for the loser.
The ‘before’ shot of my lovely gold bike. A birthday present from my best friend Wil, which cost him just £10 from ebay. I have lots of things planned for this beaut with a little help from my friend Chris of the Birmingham Bike Foundry. Plans include making it a single speed (I couldn’t bear to loose those gold brakes for the sake or making it fixed gear), new saddle and matching bar tape.
Day three: and my first night. Things are starting to come together. I haven’t bought over the plants from my parents’ yet, but I did buy some big posts of lavender, sage and rosemary which were a 3 for 2 offer. And got a cut your own salad tray from Aldi for something like 79p! I still need a bed, and a few other things, but since my savings are totally wiped out, I guess they can wait. Dining room chairs would be handy, and something to make the lounge area not look so empty. But yeah, after my first night there I am real happy with it all, and the 2 minute walk to work this morning was awesome compared to my usual hour and a half commute!
